
Hiring Summer Camp Counselors
The Alliance Française de Seattle is seeking several dynamic and passionate French-speaking camp counselors to join our
team at our French summer camps for children ages 6-12. Our camps are designed for beginner and intermediate French learners. The successful
candidates will be responsible for leading and supervising a group of 4 to 10 campers, while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead activities such as short French lessons, games, creative arts and crafts, and other camp-related activities, using lessons, activities and content prepared by our educational team. Counselors will be expected to adjust content as needed to further our camper's experience.
- Act as a role model for campers, promoting good behavior and positive attitudes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
- Maintain high energy level, enthusiasm, and engagement every day at camp. Learn, participate, and lead by example in all activities.
- Supervise and mentor campers, providing guidance and support as needed. Listen to campers and encourage them to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas when appropriate.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
- Oversee up to two volunteers who will support their camp.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Organize materials, set up the classrooms, clean up after each day.
- Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed. Record in writing all incidents, accidents, and actions necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Fluency in French is required
- Experience working with children in a camp or similar setting is preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills; responsive and proactive communicator
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, good judgment, patience, and self-control
- Reliable, punctual, and helpful
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Selected candidates will be required to complete a background check
- Hired candidates will need to attend staff training.
- Located in Wallingford in Seattle.
- Hours: On a weekly basis, Monday to Friday. Full days (8:45am to 4:15pm)
- Hourly pay: from $25 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
